What is the tactic for a rogue vs a mage, he would sheep me, and turn
me blue so I walked slow and always managed to stay out of my dagger
range. Or with the help he had was I in a no-win situation.
the final score was, he killed me, then we killed each other
simultaniously, then he killed me, then I left.

Not much you can do. Yeah, it's great that you at least got that close.
Mages can kite around faster than you can get to them and stunlock. If
you get him close, do everything you can to keep him there or at least
get as much damage as you can off right then.
