Re: Reign of Chaos


Good day,

First time to post on here, so hello to all the Members.

Yesterday I spent 8 hours trying to set-up a second computer for my
son. I sell on eBay fulltime,so the need for him to have a gaming
computer while I work is getting beyond a luxury and is now a
necessity, especially over the summer months.

Big problem though - his favorite game (for years) has been Reign of
Chaos but on the second computer we keep getting the same frustrating
prompt/message: "You need to install DirectX 8.1 version or higher.."
etc.. BUT, we have the 9 version installed. Have tried restarts,
reinstalls etc.. and have run out of ideas. I am soooo frustrated it
isn't even funny.. So, I searched the Net and found this place.

If anyone has any Newbie-friendly suggestions on how to fix this, I'd
majorly appreciate hearing from them.. ~ thank you in advance ~~

was another game entirely like Everquest, or Ultima Online or
whatever.

No problem. I started with a troll, after all. Reign of Chaos is the
subtitle for Warcraft 3. The Frozen Throne is the expansion for
Warcraft 3.
