Re: Feigning Death - But What About the Cat?

Well, as mentioned, Dismiss Pet is a 5 second spell, so such a macro
really isn't a good idea. Someone has mentioned trying to get out of
the range of the mobs, but usually I resort to Feign only when I've
several mobs right on top of me and can't fend them off with Wing Clip
or that melee strike that loses threat (name temporarily forgotten).
This means that my pet will catch up with them right on top of me.

All in all, I fear that the best option is to let poor old Kuching
die. At the cost of some meat, it's fairly cheap I guess.

ok, I didn't realize that dismiss has a 5-sec global spell cooldown attached
to it. I usually try to hit aspect of the cheetah and run as soon as I see
2 or more mobs high-tailing it past my pet and in my direction. This
usually has the result of what someone else mentioned, where I will get far
enough away from my pet that he'll disappear, and I can call him back to my
side. Sometimes though, he'll be on a mob that he's too weak to kill on his
own, and he dies. At which point I rez him, give him a nice piece of lamb,
and he's happy again :)

One thing I tend to do a lot if I'm trying to kill a group that are a level
or two below me and they're kind of close together, is throw down a freeze
trap, mark the one I want to attack, hit the marked mob with aimed shot,
send my pet, then hit him with concussive shot. If I accidentally aggro a
nearby mob or two (since my aimed shot hits the marked mob before my pet
gets there, to try to draw him away from the group), one will get frozen in
place, and the other I usually let just beat on me till the targeted mob is
dead, then I stand there let my pet come to my aid and tank for me so I can
back up and unleash a few arrows into the mob's head.
