Feigning Death - But What About the Cat?

Feign Death really is a life-saver for Hunters, no pun intended,
especially when you pull 3 hidden Rogues in the wastes of Gadgetzan.
However, I'm not quite sure what to do when I still have a live pet. In
this case, the pet (in Passive mode) will stand placidly beside me as
the mobs beat it to death. I can set it to Attack or Defense mode
without breaking Feign Death, but in either case, the pet will end up
simply fighting to the inevitable death.

I've tried Dismiss Pet, but this breaks Feign Death. Oops.

Is there anything constructively I can do, or should I simply let the
pet die?
