I play a 53 undead mage, skilled 11 arcane / 44 frost. Lately we have
been to the Temple with a group of people 52-53. We failed at the
dragon. I tried to give the tank time and the frostbolted the dragon
slowly and sometimes put a blizzard on him when I get the clearcasting
state. This pulled the dragon to me a couple of times and if I ain´t
swift, he gets me.
Can I do this better if I change my arcane talent points arcane subtlety
and feed arcane missiles to the dragon instead of frostbolts?
my new setup would be:
# Arcane Subtlety - 3/3 points
Reduces the threat generated by your offensive arcane spells by 40%.
# Arcane Focus - 2/5 points
Reduces the chance that the opponent can resist your arcane spells by 4%.
# Arcane Concentration - 5/5 points
# Evocation - 1/1 point
Actual setup is Improved Arcane Missiles 5, Arcane Concentration 5,
Evocation 1 point
It could be done with my actual setup and a tank that could keep aggro,
but just for the instance that I play with a tank that is not that
good ad keeping aggro, would arcane missiles generate less aggro
from my mage?
how about being aware of the encounter a little more too, look at the mobs
health, look at the sunders on the mob and any other dots - be aware of how
much damage you're doing in relation to others (and how soon you start doing
it) generally just be aware of the encounter and agro isn't usually a big
problem even with lots of damage. I usually give the tank 5 sunders on tough
mobs - 3 on lesser ones. Getting everyone in the group to understand agro
management is often a tall order though outside of a high end guild raid,
especially when people are racing for first prize glory on the damage meter.
you can also start with a scorch, wand, lower level spell, whatever...
