Hi all,

I managed to claw my main those extra couple of levels towards 60 at
the weekend, and have now turned my attentions towards the opening of
the gates of AQ.

Now, there is no way that I am going to be able to level to 60 by
Thursday (the opening day of the gates on my server) given my work and
social commitments, I have however got to the stage where I can quest
in Silithus, therefore should be able to be in the general area to
hopefully tag along with the other chars on the way to the gates.

If you want to run the 20-40 man raids in AQ, I understand your desire
to go play there. If you want to try the quests from the hold, the Field
Duty quests, don't bother, they are THE worst design ever, I won't eve
get into here, the forum has covered it pretty well. They're pointless.

Some questions/thoughts regarding this:

1. Am I too low level to reach the gates? Bearing in mind I have just
started in this area and don't have the same knowledge that I would
have of say The Barrens :)

You should'nt have too much of a problem, the mobs in that area pre-gate
opening are 58+, non-elites. Just follow the road from Cenarian Hold to
the gates - if you're that close to the opening, you'll probably have
folks down there already acting like fools, dueling, and jumping around.

2. I heard that there might be GMs there to "escort" lower level
characters out of the area to prevent the server crashing, is this
true?

Very true, for 30 and below characters. Mostly this is due to people
from other servers creating new characters and corpse jumping their way
to the gates, so they can see it.

Seeing as BWL geared folks are wiped out instantly by the Colossus that
spawn in the first 10 hours, I think level 30's are pretty much useless
there, as unfair as it is.

If Q2 is true, I think this is extremely unfair to people who do pay
their subscription fee and would be denying characters (who ok maybe
not quite lvl 60 but can hold their own in a group) their "right" to
come along and watch the precedings instead of having to hear how
amazing it was off of their guildies.

Agree 100%. The entire gate opening sequence was poorly thought out on
Blizzard's behalf, they created a world event drawing thousands of
players in one spot, when they know their servers cannot handle it.
Every server has crashed multiple times during the opening, and yours is
sure to do the same. After an hour or so you shoould be able to log in
and play, but expect lag and poor server performance while the 10 hours
are active.

This point has been mainly made up of hear'say, if anything I have said
is wrong please feel free to correct me.

Thanks

Alastair
