Together , my son and I leveled a priest (me) and a mage (him) to 60
questing together. For the most part, we were unbeatable. We routinely were
able to accomplish kill quests that were orange to us. We even did a couple
of red ones (I remember the most fun was killing the lvl 26/27 raptors in
Whelgar's excavation site while our characters were still lvl 23/24).
We really didn't come into our own until we had both characters at level 20.
Priests have mind flay and flash heal, in addition to mind blast and the
mage has Arcane Explosion, blink, and mana shield. One of the more effective
techniques was for the mage to frost-bolt (slowing the mob's attack speed)
and I would Shadow-Word Pain (SWP). But, just as the frostbolt's slowdown
effect wore-off, I would cast mind-flay, slowing the mob yet again. This
allowed the mage to cast 2 firebolts and a fire blast before the mob got
anywhere near the mage. It was trivial then for the mage to frost nova,
blink away, and do the whole thing all over again. Allowing the mage to kite
like this was super. Mind-flay and SWP do not draw much aggro (esp relative
to the mage) and the mage rarely takes enough damage to warrant more that a
renew.
In Duskwood, we raped the undead. He could sheep the adds and/or I could
shackle 'em.
Right now, I'm working on a dwarven priest (for end-game PVP) and playing
with a friend who's a warrior. It's fun, very efficient, but we're not as
destructive. Nor are we as successful on the orange/red quests.
Nevertheless, we roll thru 'em pretty quick.
I've also quested with a Druid in Stranglethorn and the Hinterlands. As long
as we're in the open, this is a great combo. But many quests require us to
go into caves where the Druid's root spell is disabled.
The nice thing about mage's and druids, and not so nice about questing with
warriors (and warlocks), is the buffs are very compatible. Mark of the Wild
(Druid buff) and Arcane Intellect (mage buff) are beautifully complementary
to the priests Fortitude buff.... And of course, the mage has that wonderful
conjured water.
Cheers,
Warwraith lvl 60 Human Priest, Kil'Jaeden
ShadowWraith, lvl 22 Human Mage, Kil'Jaeden,
HolyWraith, lvl 24, dwarven priest, Kil'Jaeden
