I had the same problem. This worked for me:

I copied the complete contents of CD 1 into a file on my HDD (including a file called Tome). From the other CDs, I copied only the other Tome files. They were numbered: Tome2, TOme3, Tome4.

Once these were copied, I restarted in safe mode and ran the installation straight from the HDD. It seems that whatever was interfering with the installation did not start up in safe mode and everything went as it should have done.
