Much changed in WoW last 6 months?

I haven't played WoW for about 6 months, I got to level 40 or so and then
just got bored with it. I thought it was amazing at first but it eventually
just seemed to become an endless grind to level up and get better equipment,
with all the new areas and creatures just seeming pretty much the same.

I was thinking about giving the game another go now. Has there been much
change to it in the last 6 months? Battlegrounds were just about to start
when I stopped playing.
