I had some problems with my WoW being unstable, where it would either crash
to desktop or start messing up the graphics (either flickering or black
screen). I found out that my particular combination of motherboard (Abit
NF7-S v2) and RAM (Kingston ValueRam, don't remember the model) could be
unstable. I fixed it by moving one of the RAM blocks to the empty slot.
Don't know if this is the problem your friend has, but it's worth a shot.
Other things you might try is watch the temperature on motherboard, CPU and
videocard as you say. Does his case have decent airflow?
It might also be that the problem can fixed simply by reinstalling (either
WoW or Windows).
