Battlegrounds observations/honor kills

Usually after a Battlegrounds session, someone in the raid group
typically announces to everyone that they got the most killing
blows. "W00t, I got 17 killing blows!" Usually a Warrior or a
Shadow Priest (this particular guy has probably never healed anyone
once during a BG). Meanwhile my druid has like 85 honorable kills
while no one else has more than 60 (typical numbers, they of course
vary from battle to battle). Support roles don't get no love. I'm
usually in the bottom 3rd in killing blows, with something like 7 (or
some such low number). However, I am always in the thick of the
battle, but usually playing support. I find that when there are 2
other like minded people (playing support), the team as a whole
owns BG. Doing stuff like crowd control, rooting rampaging warriors,
faerie firing, HEALING, etc. while the rest of the glory hogs go about
killing.

Is a killing blow really worth that much? I find it funny
to see 10 people on my team piling on top of some
poor lone enemy to get that killing blow, throwing every
bit of burst damage/instant cast they can once that enemy
gets to like 10%.

Do heals actually count for anything (as far as honor)? They
probably should. Arriving just in the nick of time to completely
heal some idiot 51 rogue on the brink of death who decided to take on
a 59 rogue by himself has to count for something. Debuffs (like faerie
fire)? Nothing pisses off rogues more than that faerie fire on their
ass every 10-20 after the tide turns and they decide to flee. I've
probably prevented about 100 rogue vanishes because of that. Same
with Hunter's Mark. In any given BG instance, there are only 1 or 2
people that play a support role, while everyone else goes for the kill
100% of the time. No one heals others, hardly any buffs are thrown
around, etc. The basic rule is to throw yourself into battle, kill/be
killed, start over.

Another thing I've noticed is at the start of Arathi Basin
BG, about 8 people head straight for the stables flag (I'm
Alliance) to try to claim it. Are they just a bunch of
greedy morons who want to see their name announced as
the 1 (out of the 8) to be the fastest clicker, or is there
really a benefit if more people are in the process of grabbing the
banner? I figure the best plan would be for 1 of those 8 to claim
the banner, while the other 7 actually do something to help the other
groups claim the other nodes (lumber mill, mine, blacksmith). This
never happens, and as a result, it results in a bunch of 2 on 5
matchups ( in the enemy's favor) at the abovementioned nodes in the
first few minutes.
