I cannot say much regarding similarities of the interface between the two
platforms. But I can say that FC2 looks much better on PC, that's a fact.
Again, I don't think the complaints are graphical or interface wise between
PC and console, nor are they dumbed down when regarding these two features.
I think the dumbing down complaints has more to do with like what happened
to MW2's PC MP being purposely gimped, and how that would save the pub and
dev money. Or Ubisoft making people have to be online to play AC2 or SCC
unlike the console versions because of copyright issues.

Maybe not the graphics, but definitely the interface. PC gamers over
on one of the PC usenet groups were going off on the way the entire
interface of the game looked, having to save using in-game metaphors
rather than being able to just do an anytime/anywhere save, etc. They
were basically miffed that they had to deal with what they viewed as
"console" limitations on the PC version.

Interesting, I just didn't get that from playing FC2 as did those who complained, seriously. Then again, I didn't play the console version, so I couldn't compare it. I still had to use a m&k and I could use my keys as commands just like any other PC game and it was much faster and easier to use.

Traditionally, console and PC versions of games would have
distinctively different interfaces, start screens, configuration,
options, meta functionality, etc. but nowadays it's near impossible to
tell the difference between a PC version of a game and its console
counterpart other than the quality of the graphics.

I don't think that's a bad thing myself, but that's what I got from PC
gamers who were constantly trash talking console games.

Start screens bother them??? Like any game you play, console or whatever, you get a load screen with the game's title as well as the the pub/dev names with the title and some legalese, then click "Start". Do they want some clarification at the start screen that their PC games are actually PC games? I can tell you this, all of the games I have on PC that are on the 360, I removed the splash screen so that it begins right at the start screen, no waits. Seriously though, that is one silly complaint if someone really made that complaint.

On the other criteria, I honestly don't know how these are valid complaints between console and PC and I have 3 games on the 360 that I also have on PC. I also have played demos of 360 games that I have also on PC and I can say that the interface isn't anywhere near what it is on the 360. Go look at the HUD interface or GUI interfaces on ME2 between PC and the 360, DA:O (DA is glaringly different), Oblivion, Fallout 3, Mass Effect, Just Cause 2, etc. even the submenus are superior and different on PC. Most of the games I have are PC only, so I cannot compare those obviously. I could give glaringly different interface usages between the platforms on any of these games I listed (as just a few of the examples) and they are way superior to the console version.
