This doesn't surprise me one iota. MS should have just taken the money and
used it for further development of their nex gen system instead of a device
purely copied because of the success of a competitor. MS lost "Innovation"
as part of its mantra long ago.
I didn't realize that word was ever in their vocabulary. I can't
remember the last truly innovative thing they did.
As far as development of a next gen system... the whole point of Move
and Kinect is to allow Sony and Microsoft to not have to worry about a
next gen system anytime soon.
If they lose substantial money on this, the
pressure to maintain stock value will put greater pressure on the profitably
on their entertainment division hugely. I was looking at their stocks and
they have been flat overall for the past two years, now is not the time to
even attempt to just maintain that, but to start getting it back up.
Hey, maybe this is all a ploy by Sony and Microsoft to get gamers good
and pissed off so they start demanding next gen hardware, then
suddenly those two swoop in like big corporate angels to save the day,
LOL.
LOL, you may very well be a sooth seer after all. Seriously though, this would not be surprising at all.
