There's a case here of technology outpacing reality... we've gotten to
a point where we don't really need such fast advancement in certain
aspects of technology. The common computer user doesn't need 4GB of
RAM, a TB of storage space or a 50GB Blu-ray disc for portable storage.
Actually, with Win7, 4GB is the sweet spot. 6GB or 8GB would be better.
Win7 will eat about 1GB of memory just starting up. If you're looking to
run a browser and Office 2007, there goes another GB.
If you want to do any sort of gaming beyond what runs in a browser as a
Flash app, you're going to want 4GB of system RAM and a video card with
on-board (not shared) memory.
