Based on the PSP Go I don't think they learned much of anything. :^)

What they attempted to do was control the entire supply chain for home
media. They wanted people playing Sony created content on a Sony
backed disc format via a Sony player on Sony television sets. Then
they acted surprised when it didn't work out that way.

Doesn't microsoft want you to do the same? they wanted you to play microsoft
games , on a microsoft system/OS, with technology backed or created by
microsoft (HD-DVD), etc.......
