MORE SPOILERS ALL, SO DON'T READ, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW!!!
Even if I weren't so far into the game I wouldn't give a crap about the caps
because my barter is so high that I get great deals anywhere and I find so
much that I can buy supplies and still sell off what I don't need for way
more caps. Find Tesla Armor (just as an example) I can get loads of ammo or
health items from Fort Independence.
At a certain point in the game (long before the DLC), I stopped even
bothering with caps and selling stuff. I had way more money than I
needed, a fully upgraded house, and an arsenal that would make most
small armies salivate. Now I only pick up armour and weapons that I
intend to use for repairs and ingrediants for Nuka-grenades (didn't
use those much at first, but now I'm addicted--especially since
getting the Quantum Chemist perk). Basically, caps are pretty much
useless past a certain point (it was the same way in Oblivion).
On the hardest difficulty they are all too damn hard to kill. You waste way
too much ammo trying to take them down (Overlords, Albino Scorpions and the
Reaver Ghouls). And the scoring is completely uneven. On the hardest
setting, I can (sometimes) take out a Super Mutant Master with one headshot
and you get 75 XP. There's no way on the Overlords. It takes, most times 15+
headshots to take them down for the same amount of XP. Who thought that up.
Not only that, the Behemoths give the same XP points as well.
Haven't tried them on the hardest difficulty (just play on "Normal").
On "Normal" I rarely even take any damage anymore. The only fight that
was tough was some of those last fights in the mobile base at Adams
Air Force Base (didn't have a high enough Science score at the time to
disable the robots, even though I had the Robotics Expert perk). I'll
probably be starting again soon with an "evil" character, and I'll
probably play on hard when I do (starting over again with nothing and
on the hardest setting should be a challenge).
The new albino scorpions will rape you if you let them get to close,
very fun. I hear they have 75% damage rating as the HUge super
behemoth mutants. But still me and Fawkes with my trusty ole' a3-21
plasma just mow them bitches down. It helps having the entomologist
perk which deals extra +50 daMAGE to radscorpions.
I haven't done much wandering in the wastes since I did the DLC, so I
haven't really encountered any of them.
I actually picked up a heavy incinerator in my old fallout3 save, I
had a game save just before you talk to ELDER LYONS and activate the
robot and head to the memorial for the final mission. And on the way I
noticed a screen messade "broken steel' has loaded , so when I got to
the memorial I found 3 dropped heavy incinerators and allot of the
enclave soldiers dropped the hellfire armor.
I love seeing those guys now, because it means I can actually repair
and use my Hellfire Armour. I would like to permanently give up my
Ranger Armor for the Hellfire Armor, but I have to keep the Ranger on
hand because I don't encounter the Enclave enough to keep the Hellfire
repaired (not since the Adams Air Force Base mission).
The Heavy Incinerator is not that great a weapon, but is effective for
groups of enemies and it slows them down. But, hands down, the best new
weapon in the game is the Tesla Cannon.
I like the Tri-beam laser rifle too. Great for use in D.C., since
there are always so many mutties around.
Also I don't remember of having the option of letting Fawkes go into
the chamber in my old fallout3 save before , but since he is radiation
proof he suffers no damage if he goes into the water purification
chamber and puts in the code. Maybe you could do that in Fallout3
before but I don't remember having that option before when I went into
the rotunda memorial.
Yep, I don't remember that as well, but I used him this time.
Yeah, not quite sure why they added that. But it definitely wasn't an
option last time. Not that it really makes any difference.
I got all
three level 30 Evil, Neutral and Good character achievements in about 5
minutes on mine. Of course, I played the game evil throughout the the new
leveling because it is easier to become good than it is to get bad and I
don't want to kill off good people that may be useful in the game to get the
achievements.
I'm still at level 25. It's definitely a lot harder to get from 20-30
than it was from 10-20. I think I may go ahead and buy they other two
DLC packs too, just for the extra XP (though I heard they aren't as
good as Broken Steel). I've already done about everything in the game
there is to do (I've got one more Behemeth to kill for "The Harder
They Fall" achievement, and a couple of places to discover, and I'm
pretty much done with what I have).
I
will say one thing, this is certainly the best of the DLCs and it plays out
fairly long if you play if even on normal. Definitely worth the $10.
Definitly a HUGE value for the price. Bethesda's come a long way since
that horse armor.

Me and fawkes are just mowing down the enemies and I have it on the
hardest diffculty. I'm loving the tesla cannon.
I don't wanna do the last mission , so I went back into the tram ride
back to the wasteland as I wanted to do some more side quests and keep
that mission for later.Plus there's so much crap to get there as they
drop tons of armor . I wish you could quick travel back to the
wastland from there.
I don't know what it is about me and FAWKES but where just almost
invincible except for when I take my ghoul mask off and run into those
new feral ghouls masters or whatever they're called , they can f-you
up pretty quick. But all I do is hit em with a dart gun and they can
only slowly walk after you then they're easy pickins. Could be because
all of my weapons stats are at 100.
I also got that perk that shows all of the locations so I'm gonna do
some exploring again. Found a butload of alien ammo too.
Funny the A3-21 plasma rifle is worth more than the Tesla Cannon?
That doesn't make sense
This is by far the best DLC for Fallout3 , time to go back and
explore. Your right caps become a non-issue , but the hoarder in me
can't resist loading up my pack-mule Fawkes and selling all the crap
to the 3 vendors.
