OK, thanks for all the replies. I called xbox support today, a pre-paid
shipping box is on it's way (3-4 days), repair (10 days) and return (3-4
days). It will be probably take longer but as long it's fixed (done right) I
can wait.
Any suggestions besides proper ventilation as for cooling fan or cooling pad
like those used for laptops? Do they work?

What is the turnaround time?
I got my console back in a little less than a month.

I don't recommend any fans or intercoolers, I bought one of those
WIRE
MESH utility boxes at Target. I flipped mine over so it becomes an
elevated platform for your console. You'll get airflow even
underneath
the 360 that way. Also store your 360 outside of any crammed
entertainment unit.Other than that the only way to nearly guarantee
never getting RROD is to get a Arcade unit and slap your HDD on,
that's what I did. I'm glad I did , HDMI audio and video quality is
improved over the old component.
SOMETHING LIKE THIS WIRE MESH BOX: this one is to small but you get
the idea,
you'll need one at least 15in x 12in

That's certainly an interesting idea. I never really had issues with
heating, though. My Xbox 360 has always stood vertically a foot or two
in front of my television stand. It has always had a lot of space all
around it. My power brick has always been out as well. It looks ugly
when I'm playing but I just let everything cool down and shove the
brick under the television stand when I'm not playing.
