You guys HAVE to try this demo, it is so freaking sweet. I actually haven't
played an RE game since RE2 but I am so anxious for this game, I can't
understand it.
My ONE disappointment in losing my Xbox 360 to RROD the last few weeks
was not being able to play this demo. I had just downloaded it the
morning before when my Xbox 360 died on me.
I just broke down and bought an Arcade Jasper unit and slapped my HDD
on it . I also got an HDMI cable , I;m glad I did I didn't realize how
much better HDMI would look over component. It could be also due to my
360 near RROD with constant freezing and other glitchiness. I can tell
an instant night and day difference from my Old Pro to the new arcade
unit. I probably eventually get a 120g HDD when they finally come down
in price . Will that ever happen??
Anyways even when you get your 360 back , I don't think it's
completley fixed unless they just swap it out for a arcade unit. I
think MS should just take the RROD console back and after inspection
send you a coupon for an Arcade unit or at least a discount on a new
arcade. I just dont think the older boxes are fixable without
completley gutting them. YOu might get a box , that will work for
another 1-6 months but it WILL break again , unless it's been
completey replaced.
I'm pretty sure that these days they're trying to repair the units
instead of just shipping other refurbished units. If they were just
going to ship back a different unit, I would have had the system back
a while ago. It was in the repair step of the process for a good week
and a half. Even with the holidays, it wouldn't have taken that long
if they were just examining it and sending out someone else's fixed
unit.
Just from reading so many other people's
experiences I never hear of people getting back a 360 that doesn't
RROD again or have some other flaw.
I don't expect this one to last me. I'm crossing my fingers I can get
another year or so out of it but I'm doubtful. Once broken, always
broken, right?
I might mod the be-jesus out of my older Pro now.
I'm wondering if there's enough of a benefit to modding the system at
this point. I already own a crapload of games and there aren't tons of
new ones in the next year or so that I'll want to play but will be too
cheap to buy.
From what I've read about the performance of the games ripped to harddrives so far, it doesn't seem like here's a substantial increase.
With the original Xbox, I saw a *huge* decrease in load times when I
ripped my games to the hard drive. Example: the Knigths of the Old
Republic load screens lasted 3-5 seconds for me.
