For me I really miss a good soild STEALTH title, sure you've got MGS4
but that wasn't the stealth I was hoping for .

Assassin's Creed is a stealth game to a degree. Your general objective
is to stay under the radar and get to your targets without getting
caught, yes?

Hitman also fits the bill.

I guess it depends on what you define as "stealth."

Then there's Splinter
Cell DA, which wasn't as deep as I had hoped and the series strayed
away from what I wanted in a stealth game and the timed missions just
removed the fun for me. When they started to add ASSAULT options in
Spliter Cell, I really started to get pissed off. We have enough
Assault games already , I just wish they would've concentrated on
making the stealth option more deep and complex beyond the hide in the
shadows and shoot out the lightbulb options.

What are you looking for? How do you define stealth and how would you
see that implemented in a game?

The postponed Splinter Cell game was supposed to go in the Hitman
direction, using a "hidden in plain sight" mentality. I like the
concept of the Hitman games (but aren't thrilled with the poor
graphics) and I love the Splinter Cell series so this was something I
was really looking forward to.

I loved trying to get all of the 100% stealth ratings in the
levels ,also loved trying to get Silent Assassin ratings  in the
Hitman games.

But what's missing is a deep STEALTH title for 2008

I wish someone would make a deep Thief title , I really enjoyed the
Thief series , I wish someone would've made one for this gen.

What's missing for you guys this gen?

In general, I would like more adventure games. Uncharted is my
favorite Playstation 3 game and is hopefully isn't going to be the
only classic adventure game of the generation (not including the
sequel, of course). I don't know if I would consider the Ratchet and
Clank games in the same light.

Heavenly Sword and the upcoming God of War III seem too action-
oriented to be labelled as classic adventures games. I guess you could
consider Tomb Raider games in this genre but they've been too sucky
for, well, ever.

Of course, if you throw the Wii into the mix (I can never tell with
the discussions here LOL) then you've got Zelda, Metroid and Mario,
all of which fit the bill. I would like more on the higher powered
systems, though.

I think adventure games in general have gone by the wayside, though. I
miss the old days of the Monkey Island type humorous adventure games -
the ones that felt kind of laid back and fun and didn't take
themselves too seriously. Psychonauts was a great one of the previous
generation. Beyond Good and Evil was pretty good, too.

What I'd like to see is a DEEP arcade space shooter- one with many,
many levels, and some real good set-pieces.  I'm talking something
similar in spirit to the old Thunderforce games.  Unfortunately, all
non-sim space shooters for about a decade have gone the route of too
few stages and too much emphasis on boss battles, and are mostly
relying on being retro.  I'd like to see something with 35 or 40 long
stages, with each having a different take on the space shooter
formula.  It would also be 3D, but with a more rail-shooter mentality.

Ikaruga was a pretty good arcade space shooter. Did you like that?
It's definitely one of the hardest games I've ever played.- Hide quoted text -

If I recall correctly, I might've played a little bit of that, but
it's not my style.  I was much more of a side-scrolling space-shooter
fan- more R-Type and Gradius then Raiden.  The problem is that 2D
space shooter remakes/retro sequels never have the ambition I'd expect
from a current generation game.  I'm not satisfied with 6 levels, with
50% of the focus being on boss battles, for full price.  I want
something that impresses me the way Thunderforce 2 impressed me in
1989.

Ikaruga should have been right up your alley. It is easily one of the
most difficult games you'll ever play. It's the one where you're not
only flying around having to shoot enemies and dodge attacks but you
also have to flip back and forth between white and black depending on
who's shooting at you.

Oh, yeah, I know about the dual shield system. But it was an overhead
space shooter, and I was more of a side-scroller person myself. That
being said, Blazing Lasers for the Turbografx was pretty good.

I still think having a long, 3D rail-shooter with high production
values is something that's needed. Being linear, it wouldn't be that
hard to make, as AI wouldn't need to be that great. In the meantime,
all I have now is Project: Sylpheed..............
