(RANT) Just got off the phone with XBox Live Support...

Yeah, this is a followup to something I mentioned in one
of my earlier RRoD e-mails.

Essentially, I tried to get XBox Live Support to fix my
original Relic1980 gamer account so I could re-activate
the stuff I had under it before my RRoD incident.

After unsuccessfully dealing with them through e-mail
(their solutions tended to show that they gave my
comments only cursory examination, and gave me
solutions that had absolutely nothing to do with my
problem), I used the reference number from their last
missive to call 1-800-4MYXBOX.

Sure enough, I get someone named David (from the
extremely heavy accent, I guess his last name was
Bramalamadingdong). I give him my name and the incident
number. Shortly he asks me what the e-mail with the
incident number pertained to (!). I explain that
last year, my original account (Relic1980) was supposed
to have went Silver after I had a Gold Account for a year.
Instead of reverting to Silver, it froze at Gold, and
now will not give me access to Live, but says to go
to Accounts Management to create an alternative
method of payment...which requires access to Live.

After taking this in, and repeatedly asking me
the same info over and over again, he finally
tells me that the account was suspended, and that
I need to pay an additional 49.99 to access it
again, since it tried to access my card (which I no
longer have) and failed.

I ask if it would go back to Gold for the last
9 or 10 months over what they say my account did.
He says no, it would go to Silver and then I could
use my 1 month free card to sign up for Gold
again and retrieve my lost games.

After that I said some things that wouldn't be
fit for a family audience, I'm afraid, and I let
him know how I felt about this policy. Finally,
I told him that I will just consider my games and points
(200) a loss and call it a night. He responds that
he can give me a reference number if I want to
pay the 49.99, I said for him to keep it.

Frankly, I love my 360 even with the original's
RRoD, but this is the last straw. I will never
consider buying another game from Arcade or Marketplace
because of this effed-up policy. I will use the 1 month
free Gold Card, but I will not consider buying
Gold again. I am not gonna eat more expenses
simply because Microsoft wants to use an unreasonable
DRM scheme.

It just isn't worth it anymore.
