I knew it was inevitable based on the number of people who it happened
to but I was just hopefully optimistic I guess. Now that I have
joined the masses in having my poorly made and once formerly "primary"
console die, I need a little help. What number do I call and what is
the process?

Thanks in advance.

Here is the craziest part about the whole thing. I am not saying that I
didn't believe anyone here that RROD was as wide spread as it seemed in
this
community but I figured it was just due to the amount of usage our
Xboxes
get in comparison to "people with lives". Then, the day after it
happened I
was talking to my assistant coach and he told me it happened to him
about 2
years ago while he was in the Navy. He said he sent it in right before
he
was deployed to the middle East and when he returned 7 months later,
still
no Xbox. This was also prior to MS's new policy so that has changed.
Then
last night, I was sitting with some neighbors at an HOA BBQ and one guy
who
I see loading dirt bikes all the time asked me what I do as a hobby. A
little timidly I paused and said, "I play video games." His eyes got a
little wide and then he said, "So do we!" Reffering to himself and my
other
neighbor who was sitting on the other side of me. We then start talking
about games we enjoyed and then about upcoming games like Mercenaries,
Force
Unleashed and Fallout 3. Then one of them asks me if I play online so we
can play (even though we live next door to each other). I tell him, that
I
do but my Xbox stopped working. He said, "Red Rings?" And I said yeah.
The other guy said, "Don't worry, when it happened to me, I got it back
in
about 3 weeks." Then the other guy followed up with, "Yeah, mine was
about
3 weeks when it happened to me too." WTF? I have only talked to 3 adults
in my life outside of this newsgroup about the 360 and all 3 of them
have
had this happen to them. I really didn't realize it was a common a
problem
as it is. I don't know what kind of numbers MS is putting out but I
honestly don't believe there is any way it is in that 20% range that I
heard
ealier this year.

The only people that believe the failure rate is below 33% are diehard
fanboys. Until the Falcon motherboard and BenQ drive became standard I
would wager it's closer to 100% failure rate. Reason being every
single person I personally know (and all of the people my friends and
family know) have been through a hardware failure. A good percentage
of those people have been through multiple hardware issues. Tom (who
post here) told me that his 360 that he just got back from repairs for
a 2nd time, is acting up yet again. I know more than a few people that
have already sold off or traded in their 360's because of this. MS is
only screwing themselves because I honestly believe if not for these
failures and poor handling of the situation (lying their asses off,
poor repairs and horrible customer service: aka out sourcing) they
would be significantly out in front of Sony.

So far out in front that Sony would already have had to drop their
unit price to $299 just to compete.

I am without a doubt the biggest chump here. I have been through
nearly 10 repairs now (I honestly lost count) on 4 different units.
Actually that is not that high if you consider only 4 of those failure
were on brand new retail units. The others were from MS repair
department. I have a friend that is already on his 5th or 6th console.
Everyone that went down was a brand new retail unit replace with
Gamestops full replacement plan. He has to repurchase every time he
takes his dead console back to get a new one. He just took one back
that was 11 months old, picked up another brand new one in it's place
only to have it E73 on his 3 weeks later.

So maybe I'm not the biggest chump after all but he doesn't post here.
Shoot him a message Matt. It's phillyjoe I am referring too. I am
pretty sure you have him on your friends list. If you happen to play
him in Madden this year ask him about his fathers 360. The guy barely
ever touched it. It might have had 20 to 30 hours of total gaming time
on it and it went bad.

But until Sony starts getting more consistant with their titles,
trophies and have smoother voice communication across the board, I am
going to stick it out with the 360.- Hide quoted text -

You know when the RRoD becomes a verb in the english language (being
'red-ringed'), you know MS has a credibility problem. Boody, like you,
I know no one who hasn't been through at least one 360. I'm one my
4th, my friend at work has been through 5. My brother has been through
3. I'm constantly getting blanket messages on XBL from friends who
won't be online for a while due to their 360 going tits-up. I would
believe a 33% survival rate, not a 33% failure rate...

####################################################333

When I run into someone on XBL that claim they have never had a problem with
their 360 I tell them one of 3 things.
1. If you don't play the lottery START!
2. Get your ass to a casino ASAP!
3. Stop lying your motherMSluvin ASS off!

I remember when you posted that I was the only person on your Xbox
Live FL that hadn't suffered RROD. Thanks for the Karma.
