I just sent out mine for repair last Friday. It wasn't the RROD, but
the thing where my console kept saying "open tray" and wouldn't read
discs. Apparently there's only a one year warranty (used to be 90
days) for this malfunction even though technically it's due to the
same problem as the RROD... so that doesn't really make sense.

But to look on the bright side, this was my second 360 console and
only 8 months old (if you can call that a bright side) so I was able
to send it in without having to induce the RROD. I guess that's
something, though it still bothers me that my second 360 lasted
exactly as long as my first one, and had the exact same problem as the
first one. I wonder how common it is for people who had other problems
related to the RROD, without actually getting the Red Rings on their
console.

I have no problem if it happens under warranty, but I'll be interested
to see how long my replacement lasts and if I ultimately end up having
the same problem with it.
