I connected mine for the first time in ages the other day, and I

I'm an old time Amiga guy... I had a 500 and 1200 back in the day, I
still have a 2000 around.

There were two Amiga based consoles, the CDTV which never did that
well in the states and the CD32. The CD32 was based on either the
A600 or A1200 (I can't remember which) with an added CD drive.

CD32 had a similar hardware configuration to the A1200 but not
identical. It was the first 32-bit console sold outside of Japan and
was launched 18 months before the PS1.

OTOH, CDTV was identical to the A500 (which was superseded less than
12 months later) replacing the 3.5" drive with CD-rom. It was marketed
both as a console and an interactive A/V system. It was a very flawed
system.

It arrived just as the 2d genre was coming to an end, and it lacked any
genuine 3d capabilities, when products like the 3do hit the streets, and
importantly, the Saturn and original playstation with unrivaled 3d abilities
where just around the corner.

Really, who else remembers the first time they saw ridge racer on the
playstation? or fifa on the 3do?

I remember looking at my amiga 1200, and looking at ridge racer, and
realised where the future was.
