Does 360 support mkv video files yet?
Nope.
Well, that sucks ....is there a particular reason? Is it because
Matrosoka is open source?
More importantly, when mkv files are converted to avis:
(1) is there significant quality loss?
(2) Are the files still a manageable size?
(3) are mkv features (eg subtitles) retained?
As to why I don't think MS has ever stated a reason. I would think
partly lack of demand, partly MS doesn't control the spec, partly
because whatever demand there is comes from p2p video sharing sites
that their studio partners don't like.
Never tried converting them.
