Splinter Cell: Conviction delayed again

Ubisoft announced that the game would now release sometime during
their 2009-2010 fiscal year (which ends on March 31 so we could
theoretically have to wait 20 months for the game).
I'm wondering what is the mitigating factor behind the delays. I've
read speculation by the PS3 fanboys that Ubisoft felt their game was
inferior to Metal Gear Solid 4 but they're not at all the same type of
game.
Metal Gear Solid games have always *supposed* to have been stealth
games but were really action games when it came down to it, and
nothing about the games is realistic. Splinter Cell games, on the
other hand, have always been about stealth and have always been
drenched in reality.
The new direction Ubisoft was taking with Conviction looked very
interesting. Of course, I have to disclose that I have always been a
fan of the Hitman style of gaming despite not being a fan of the
Hitman style of crappy graphics.
Well, at least now I know what it's like to be a PS3 fanboy waiting
through delay after delay. All that needs to happen is for Ubisoft to
announce that the game will be on the PS3 as well and my
transformation will be complete. ;-)
