Your last comment doesn't hold water, because the PS3 is more expensive
than the 360 based on you having to purchase the extras that Sony
doesn't
give, that MS does. Even if you buy the Elite, and you get a 40gig
unit,
you add up the differences in what already offered to what you have to
buy, and you still fall behind. remember, you contention on Rumble,
etc,
is your preference, but you are not even close to the majority.
please, add up the cost of LIVE, pay-n-charge, an HD-D oops Blu-Ray
player,
and wi-fi.
go ahead, I'll wait.
The difference between the extras you get with a Playstation 3 and the
extras you get with an Xbox 360 is that the extras you get with the
Xbox 360 are actually part of the gaming experience whereas the extras
you get with the Playstation 3 are just options (while nice to have,
none are necessary for the main purpose of the gaming console).
The cost for Live is actually negligible when you consider that the
system is more robust and provides a more consistent interface and
gaming experience as well as a community. The funny thing is that PS3
fanboys like yourself constantly crow about it without realizing that
come next generation when the Playstation Network is actually at a
decent state (like Xbox Live was when it first launched in the
previous generation), you'll be paying $50 a month to use it. I'm sure
you didn't think that Sony was doing this out of the goodness of their
heart.
One obvious retort is that gaming over PSN tends to be smoother. Well,
duh... when you have hundreds of times more players online at any
given time, speeds may not be quite as high. Back in the day, cable
modem was a lot faster than DSL during off-peak hours but slower than
DSL when lots of people were online using it.
Cost of a Blu-Ray player... who cares? High-def movies are nowhere
near mainstream and aren't even at Laserdisc niche levels yet. An Xbox
360 owner can go buy a Blu-Ray player if they want but it won't be
because they want to play games on it.
blah blah blah blah. crow about how great LIVE was between January and
March, or how lag, racist, homophobe, and idiot free it is when it's
actually 'usable.'
Blah blah blah blah. Only a "fawkeeng idiot" would think that the
lower number of network issues on the Playstation Network has anything
to do with the quality of the network and not the infinitely smaller
number of users on the network. That there are enough racist and
homophobic idiots on Xbox Live to be noticed by people only further
proves my point - there are many millions more people using Xbox Live
so there are many more retards.
and I'll just skip over your conjecture as to what PSN
will cost next gen as that was obviously pulled right outta your ass.
Only a "fawkeeng idiot" would think that Sony is doing any of this out
of the goodness of their hearts. Once the network gets to a size and
level of quality where a) they can legitimately charge people for it
and b) they need to charge people for it to maintain it they will most
likely do so.
the
fact of the matter is that lots of people use wi-fi,
And exponentially greater numbers of people don't.
HD (synonymous with
Blu-ray now)
Hardly. HD was around long before Blu-Ray was. High-definition
television channels are much more "synonymous" with HD and always will
be.
in general is increasingly being adopted,
By people who are paying $50 a month to Comcast, Verizon, DirecTV,
Dish Network, Time Warner, etc. to watch sporting events in beautiful
clarity.
and a method of
charging a controller is included with every PS3 (something I'd certainly
consider 'necessary for gaming')
As opposed to the method of playing games in the high definition that
$400-600 pays for that is NOT included with *any* Playstation 3?
judging by your posts I should, perhaps rightly, assume, that anyone picking
up a 360 nowadays is a fawkeeng idiot, when for less money
Since we're focusing on what you *need* to play games, let's compare
prices:
Xbox 360 Arcade + rechargeable batteries + charger = $250 + $10 = $260
to be ready to play high-definition games.
40Gb Playstation 3 + component cables = $400 + $8.34 (after shipping
from your beloved Monoprice) = $408 to be ready to play high-
definition games.
you get an open,
futureproof system that doesn't nickel and dime you to death before
RRoDing...
Going back to RRoD is a clear sign of desperation on your part.
caveat emptor indeed.
Using phrases like "caveat emptor" instead of "buyer beware" doesn't
give your argument the intelligence it so desperately needs.
