What "facts"? That article was nothing but a bunch of opinionated bunk.
It's not broken. It's...advanced.
Oh that's right, The whole Blu ray winner story was just media
fiction, huh? The parallel history of PS2 never really happen. The
whole point of the article is that PS3's first year mirrored the PS2
which went on to amazing success.
Only an idiot would think the PS3's first year mirrored the PS2's
first year. The PS2 was a runaway success, selling out every unit as
soon as it hit the shelves for months after it's release. It enjoyed
Wii-esque type demand and the only thing that kept it from selling
more during it's first year was it's massive supply shortage.
In contrast, the PS3 never had a supply shortage so it was always in
stock, sold less than the PS2 did (especially in Japan), lost numerous
exclusives (like DMC4), had to resort to multiple price drops to spur
sales and the only month it outsold any of it's competitors was when
they were hurt by post-Christmas supply shortages.
Yes, the PS3 will eventually pass the X360 in world wide sales (not
hard to do when you sell in 3 regions compared to 2 regions for the
competition) but to claim the first year of the PS3 was as successful
at the first year of the PS2, is simply incorrect.
