While we won't nave Novembers NPD numbers for some time, one reliable

list, while not nearly as reliable as NPD data does give us a good
sample of shopper trends sincewww.amazon.comaccountsforover 65% of
on-line retail sellers (excluding ebay)

So what does thewww.amazon.comvideogamebest sellers list look
like?http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/videogames/ref=pd_ts_pg_1?ie=UTF...

What we've seen over the past week is the same: the Nintendo DS
dominates the top 10 with it's games and consoles. Sprinkled in the
top 10 are Wii and XBox 360 titles. The XBox 360 $349 package is the
first next-gen console on the list (consistently) currently in the #12
spot as I write this, but it fluxulates a bit

Both XBox 360 and PS3 consoles are in stock, the PS3 console doesn't
show up in the list untill #39 (ouch) it's best selling game atwww.amazon.com
is Assassin's Creed, the best selling 360 title is Halo 3. (Assassin's
Creed is also available on the XBox 360).

The Wii consoles position in the list is pretty far down, but it
should be noted that unlike the PS3 and XBox 360, the Wii has
consistently been out of stock at Amazon, so most on-line buyers are
probably turning to sites like EBay for a Wii. Will Novembers NPD
numbers mirror this list? Probably. today Nintendo made a comment to
the press similar to SONY's regarding increased sells (again, as if
consumers aren't able to figure this out for themselves), Microsoft
has been quite, but that should not be mistaken for selling poorly.

RMZTroll yet again beating his chest about the PS3?

Colour me shocked.

I know, he must be getting scared. For someone who hates the PS3 so
much, sure does talk about it alot.

That's a good point, to be clear the reason I post this stuff is
because someone needs to counter the SONY spin machine, I will not
repost the detailed list I have posted before of various tactics SONY
has used over the course of 2007 in terms of PR as an alternative to
advertising for the PS3. As I've pointed out before for anyone who's
done even a brief study of what Public Relations departments commonly
do for companies, it's essentially all about consumer perception
manipulation as a form of marketing as opposed to just advertising
product features.... Companies spend a lot more for PR firms to do
this sort of bidding and they are generally only brought in when there
is a real crisis situation (no secret the PS3 is there and has been at
"crisis" for a while now.... According to SONY anything less than #1
is crisis).

What we're seeing now and if you pay attention to the media reports
they are mostly based on statements released by SONY corporate. So
it's the PR machine in spin mode again.... Microsoft and Nintendo take
the high road, they don't attack these tactics publicly and frankly,
they don't need to spend the money on counting them it since they are
kicking butt.

The point of my post is to help you guys, Joe Consumer out there who
might fall victum to SONY's tactics and then come 3rd quarter 2008
they realize what a turd of a console they ended up with and they
realize some of their favorite movies are HD-DVD exclusives and not
available on Blu-Ray. Those are the only people who keep me posting
these days. My hate for SONY as a company has past, they are already
paying for their mistakes with PS3, it's the consumers who I don't
want to see get burned by throwing their money at the 3rd place
console.

Those of you who already decided on PS3, well you've already made your
choice and of course you're going to counter anything I say, no
surprise. You're the same group out there yelling "Wait till MSG4
comes out" and touting the limited time exclusive UT3 as if it was the
second coming. You're a sad group of people who's opinions are often
factually wrong. At the $399 price it's a bargin hunters Blu-Ray
player, but just as I stated in this newsgroup months ago, we have
$199 stand alone HD-DVD Players now at retail, so SONY is still taking
a beating on price and they will continue to do so because they are
SONY and fundamentally their business practices make their products
over-priced, mid-range products. They are better than the generic
brands, but not as good as what Toshiba, Hitachi, Pioneer, etc... are
doing for the same price. They've become a brand name of yesterday to
anyone keeping up on consumer electronics and sadly their video game
division has gone the same path with the PS3.

I encourage everyone to do their own research.

Also... I want to point out that SONY corporate has absolutely no way
to measure how much product has been sold off of store shelves, they
know only how much product they have sold to distributors and direct
sells to the bigger chains like Walmart, Best Buy, etc... But those
numbers are product sold to retailers, not to consumers. The consumer
sells data is all that matters and that data comes from a single
source, NPD.

So again, what you're hearing from SONY about PS3 sells soaring is
speculation at best. There are other reports for sort of thing, but
they are not definitive. SONY is feeling like the wounded sheep backed
into the corner by two Wolves (360 and Wii) and so these press
statements telling us all how good the PS3 is selling are just cries
from a wounded animal really. Think about it for a moment, what point
do they really serve? Why does SONY need to tell us all how well they
PS3 is selling, weeks before any official data is available? Bottom
line is it is a manipulation tactics.... If you're too thick in the
head to see that, well I'm sorry.... But that's what it is.
