What you missed, you idiot, is that this is a reprint of a reprint of
a opinion peice about pre-release code that has yet to go gold.

And yet it's proven true in release after release on the PS3... Seems
reasonable to believe to me...

Or am I missing the part where an EA managed PS3 port has been worth a
damn?

Oblivion: Better on PS3 with longer draw distances and sharper
textures.

They had well over a year to port this game...

Assassins Creed: Marginally better on PS3.

Developed concurrently... this wasn't a port.

COD4: Marginally better lighting on PS3.

Again, developed concurrently... this wasn't a port.

Colin Mcrae Dirt: Better lighting and framerate on PS3.

DiRT was done using Sony software so it really should have been hands
above the Xbox 360 version in quality but it wasn't, which is actually
quite surprising.

Trend? Either dedicated development teams, or using the Ps3 as the
lead platform yeilds better results than porting fro the PC or
XBOLLOX.

No shit, Sherlock.

Answer? Ps3 games will get better now that the install base is
singificantly higher than it was at launch when most of the games we
are seeing now were initiated.

The install base certainly is higher than it was at launch (when
nobody owned one). Unfortunately, the install base is still
significantly lower than that of the Xbox 360 from both a domestic and
worldwide perspective and, even worse, the attach rate for games is
significantly lower on the Playstation 3.

What Sony needs to do is get those first- and second-party blockbuster
games out as quickly as they possibly can so that people buy into the
system and then start looking at buying third-party games. Until third-
party publishers see vastly improved attach rates for games, they're
always going to go with the Xbox 360 as the lead platform and push the
low port budgets to their less-qualified development teams.

Japanese developers wont give the 360 a second look as a premiere
platform, when they see how well the Ps3 is doing now in their
homeland, beating even the Wii for 2 weeks straight.

Japanese developers didn't give the 360 a first look as a premiere
platform, so nothing will change there. Microsoft isn't even bothering
to court the Japanese developers anymore because they finally realized
that Japan was a lost cause.

Further, you, just like JDrozen and Blig, failed to comprehend that
the Wii's falling sales rate is simply due to saturation. Tons of
people have the system now and it obviously can't sell at the same
rate forever.

Just wait until
MGS4 hits over there, you'l see the Wii;s lead decimated.

The ratio of install bases is about 2.75 to 1 right now. Sony needs to
sell over 2.4 million Playstation 3 systems to catch up to the Wii
total right now. At the current monthly sales rate, which you and your
buddies have painstakingly pointed out is so very high, it would take
Sony over 5 years (almost 62 months) to catch up if no Wiis were ever
sold in Japan again.

Metal Gear Solid 4 would need to match the sales phenomenon that was
Halo 3 in order to help Sony catch up to Nintendo in hardware sales,
but it won't. Metal Gear Solid 3 sold 3.7 million total worldwide
since it launched a couple years ago on a system with an install base
of almost 100 million at the time.
