I agree some of these games are no more than movie tie-in filler. I
always thought game companies should take a look at Oblivion for example
and see what a majority of gamers would like to have in a game ,namingly
lots and lots of gametime. I read one interview (forgot the developer)
he said , I dont want my game to last too long?

That would be Dennis Dyack, of Silicon Knights (of Too Human fame).

Too long I ask?? Aren't
most games way too short?

Well.......here's the thing. "The game is too short" is a complaint
that has been popping up
for just about every game imaginable, even when it wasn't warranted.
I'm sure there were
complaints that Half-Life 2 was "too short", even though it felt quite
complete. But there are
too many games that are "too short" because- a. the game ends at an
unnatural spot,
b. the game itself has too many similar areas that blur together, and
don't give the impression
that the player has really "advanced" anywhere by the end of the game,
or c. because the
action is too sparsely spread out.

Games like KOTOR, Oblivion make me happy I
spent $50-60 on the game with 100+ hours of game time ,its worth it.
Here's to hoping that Fallout 3 will be a nice long game ,although they
said its shorter than Oblivion , it should be a sweet game. Mass Effect
is high on my hopes of a long gaming title. Im stretching out Bioshock ,
20 hours is a little short for my taste but still it'll keep me happy
until Two Worlds , Stranglehold and M.O.H.a are released. The end of 07
looks pretty strong for the 360.

Oblivion is one of those rare games where the developer underpromised
and overdelivered.
They were saying, "well, it's smaller than Morrowind".....but they
made up for it by making
the quests feel very unique compared to each other, by really
listening to the criticisms leveled
at Morrowind (walking drains fatigue? Thank God they ditched that),
and by polishing things up
(well, comparatively- there were still some bugs).
