I think it's too early to buy in to either format, but I have to admit
at $179 offer is tempting. It was a similar give away that pushed me
to buy my first DVD player about a year after the technology had

I thought about purchasing the stand-alone Toshiba when Crutchfield
(mistakenly) had it offered for $199 with the same(?) disk deals.
Decided:
1) Too early to commit, and
2) My criteria for movies is at least: "would I rent it now?" While
these movies are decent to quite good for the most part, I would not
run out and rent a single of them. So no way I'd be subtracting $20
for each to come up with a lower "purchase price". ... Unless I
really wanted to buy the drive and I'm just looking for a
rationalization :)
Bottom line, I'm holding till the dust settles.
