Sorry to hear that. My son is asking me for a unit for his birthday and now
I'm a bit hesitant.
I think this will be my last go round with the consoles. I'm able to repair
or replace parts for my PC much quicker than it takes these clowns to fix
their systems.
I guess the problem wouldn't be so bad if MS just came out and said they
know what the probelm is and a fix could be expected with the new units
being built but I have not heard anything along those lines. So the next
batch rolling off the assembly line could be faulty for all we know.

Last October I had the red ring after the XBL update. I received a new
(refurbished) unit in December. Now in July of this year I get the red
ring again. Does MS know what the problem is? I'm not too confident
that the next unit I get (I'm told it may be the same one I have now if
they can fix the problem) will be red-ring free.
Its nice the warranty is good for three years but what happens if the
red-ring appears after that time?.
I feel your pain. My sons 360 has a habit of eating disc and MS wont fix
it for free because it's not the RROD. Now I have to purchase insurance
with every game I pick up for him. Hopefully thee class action suits will
change MS's policy on their warranty to extend to anything hardware
related.
