I haven't put together a PC in nearly 3 years and I am totally out of touch

So can one of you PC gaming gurus give me an idea of what to put together
for a decent gaming PC that won't break my wallet? (-$1000 just a tower)

It's for my son and it really only needs to run WOW but I want to run it
flawlessly for him.
I am looking at AMD Atholon 64 5600 dual processor
video card - Geforce 8600 GTS
1g ram Corsair 1066mhz
Vista Premium installed (or should I go with XP?)

Is this ok?
Should I add or take away anything?
More ram, better vid card?

I'd really try to get an Intel 6400 Duo-Core - seems to be the sweet spot
for gaming right now between performance and price.

Video card is fine (maybe a little overkill for WoW, but...)

Stick with XP. So far Vista has proven it's as useless (and slow!) for
games as Blu-Ray is. Yeah, some day it won't be...some day...

Get 2GB RAM if possible.

The above is basically what I went with, and spent about $1500 from
Velocity Micro for a pre-assembled box. That was about 4 months ago,
though, so prices should be cheaper.

It's not broken. It's...advanced.
