Re: GHII patch bricking systems

No GAME patch should affect the system in this way. If a simple game

That's pure unadulterated bullshit.

The only way that can be accomplished is to eliminate all third party
developers and keep everything in-house. Is that what you really want?

The fact that you're blaming Microsoft for something created by
RedOctane shows you don't know a damned thing about programming.

Exscuse me? We have an application - GHII - that is trashing the
OS/hardware, making the console unusable until it's repaired by Microsoft.

That the patch failed is one thing. However, breaking one game would be
MUCH preferable to damaging the entire console, wouldn't you agree?

The fact that Microsoft apparentally allows the possibility for games (or
even their patches) to damage the console is ridiculous. One of the
primary principles in OS design is to PROTECT the system from malicious or
damaged applications. The fact that Microsoft FAILS to understand this
principle even after almost 30 years(!) in the OS market is just
ridiculous.

In this case, it wasn't an act of maliciousness, but just a piece of buggy
code. However, the implications of this flaw are very very serious and
need to be addressed by Microsoft.
