Reminds me of the first time I built a PC for my sister. To this day I don't know what that woman would do on the internet, but I would literally be forced to re-format her HD every 2 weeks, it would slow to a crawl, I would go into task manager and just stare in awe of the 65 processes she had going, 25-30 of which were spyware/virus related.
I can relate to that. Have a sister who is addicted to "casual"
games, which means that if she sees one on-line, then she dls
it regardless of where it comes from. Which means that when it
inevitably goes south, it comes around to me and I run the usual
diagnostics, and find loads of spyware/crapware/malware.
Bonzi Buddy, anyone? ^_^.
Finally installed several programs that would help prevent
at least some of the infections, and gave her instructions
on how to update them regularly. Of course, she didn't....
