Hi Guys,
Thanks for the info. Gee...It sould like this is a terrible system!!!!
One guy had TWO BAD CONSOLES!!!! I am wondering now about getting one
at all.....Sounds like MAJOR BUGS in the system. I like the games
that are available. But that is a good chunk of change to throw down
for a system with so many problems.
I am will to listen to more comment on why to buy...OR should I wait
for the new version comming out this summer.
OR is that just a rumor??

The early versions of the console DEFINITELY had a higher than normal
percentage of defective units. It also didn't help any that Microsoft
later released a software patch that 'bricked' many more.

However, the units on the shelves now should be the newer version with the
newer hardware and the latest firmware patch already applied.

No game console hasever been wholly problem-free. The PS2 had overheating
issues, a defective power cord, and badly designed fans which caused dust to
accumlate inside, damaging the DVD drive. The Xbox had at least one model
of DVD drive that was flakey, and a defective power supply/cord. Even the
GameCube had some overheating issues.

As a result, you should STRONGLY consider getting an extended warranty for
videogame consoles. Some problems don't show up at first, either. For
instance, the PS2's problem with the DVD drive took between 12 to 18
months to occur, and sometimes longer than that. By the time it was
known, Sony had already released a new PS2 with modifications to prevent
this problem.

As for the newer model of the 360, nothing is certain at this point.
However, the rumor seems persistant enough that there's a good chance
we'll see SOMETHING new later this year. It could be May, but it could
also be later, or even never...

If you do decide to buy sooner than later, try to do it at a store that
offers price-protection. Chances are if this new model appears, it will
cause the existing 360s to drop in price. Many stores will refund you the
difference on an item if this happens within 30 to 90 days(check with
your store.) Also, your credit card may also provide this service as well.
