It's hard for the 360, or *any* product made by a foreign company to do
well in Japan. Period. The Japanese government itself tries to
exclude American imports. The U.S. has been fighting with the Japanese

I agree, the story isn't about the Xbox doing poorly as nobody outside
Microsoft expected it to do well in Japan.
The story is that the PS3 is only doing a little more than double the
360s admittedly pathetic numbers. If the PS3 is going to be viable it
needs to be selling way, way more than that. Apparently the Japanese
aren't as interested in Blu-Ray players as they were in DVD players
when the PS2 came out.
As it stands Nintendo is in the top spot, the PS3 is a far distant 2nd
and is just barely ahead of the 360. Pretty much the way I predicted it
for Japan oddly enough... :^)
