Re: It gets worse for Sony. 400,000 units for US launch, 100,000 for Japanese.

The best case scenario would have been a timely PS3 launch and great games,

and beyond and it will be a relatively even 3-way race between MS, Sony and
Nintendo later on.

Meantime, I hope Bliggy enjoys his latest meal of crow. Cuz I'm enjoying
watching him eat it.

Historically it is "must-have" titles that drive the sale of consoles.
By falling an installed base of 10 million or so behind the 360 (let's
say 8-10 million or so), that ends up meaning third party makers CAN'T
afford to do titles only on the PS3. They have to do games on the 360.
Third party is the bulk of console sales. That will leave Sony with
only their modest first party batch of stuff to compete. Their stuff
is dwarfed by what Nintendo does. With the must-have third party
appearing on the 360, that makes the 360 the console to get, next to
the Wii for people who want something different, and the price factor.

Sony's first party is fine and good, IF you own a console, but outside
of maybe Gran Turismo none of their first party stuff drives people to
buy a PS3 just to get them. God of War is a must have ONCE you have a
PS3. This is not GTA or Madden or Halo we are talking about here.

So, watch as the like of Tekken and Final Fantasy end up on the 360.
The next Soul Calibur is also likely on the 360 also. Maybe even
Virtua Fighter makes its appearance on the 360 also.

In the end, the dust clears and it is possible the Wii wins this round
eventually. It plays Gamecube games, so there is a decent sized
library out for it now. But also does different stuff. The Gamecube
market penetration was not large, so there is room for more sales. And
then there is new stuff with the Wii.
