I doubt MS would drop the price this holiday season. For one, a price
drop isn't going to put a dent in any sales of the PS3. Two, they
missed their opportunity last year to move a boat-load of systems at
$400, so this is their only chance to do it (and they finally have the
supply to do it as well).

I think MS will drop the price around spring of 2007, once the PS3 hype
and craziness wears off and then the fence-sitters can walk into a
store and see the two systems side-by-side and discover the huge price
difference.
