You can buy one of these adapters or you can just buy a wireless
bridge, which should be much cheaper. I got a DLink bridge for my
original XBox off of Ebay for around $20-$30 about 3 years ago. I use
the same bridge for my 360 and it works just fine. I imagine you can
probably get it even cheaper today.

It depends on how many of your 256 old Xbox games are on this list of
227 compatible titles:

The last time I checked there were close to 900 games available for the
Xbox, so that's around 25% or so working on the 360. Personally I hit
31 out of 70, with a few new ones added each time they update the list.
