The same argument could have been made last generation with the xbox,
ps2 and game cube. Technically Nintendo will probably finish 2nd to
Sony in terms of consoles sold but you would be hard pressed to find
anyone who thinks Nintendo had a strong showing overall.

Exactly. In fact, the GC debuted at $199 if memory serves. On
the other hand, that was a $100 difference or so from the other consoles
at the time; a Wii at $250 would be $250 to $350 less than a PS3.
