Why are companies predicting that the Wii is going to be the third
selling game system? It is cheaper than all of the above, and is a
console people would have little problem adding as a second one,

the largest installed based after it is all said and done.
Microsoft is likely to build a large lead by the time the Wii comes out
though.

The same argument could have been made last generation with the xbox,
ps2 and game cube. Technically Nintendo will probably finish 2nd to
Sony in terms of consoles sold but you would be hard pressed to find
anyone who thinks Nintendo had a strong showing overall.
I wouldn't write Nintendo off, especially since their wiimote
controller is bound to interest a lot of people but I just don't
believe that Nintendo can be number one again based almost solely on
the strength of their 1st party games. Nintedo must get better 3rd
party support and they need more games that will interest the adult
gamer such as myself. I'm not beyond playing Mario or Zelda but if
the game cube is any indication, there wont be much that interests me
beyond a handful of games, which is why I'm taking a wait and see
approach to the Wii. It will be my 3rd choice.
