Make sure that whatever input you select is set for "Optical".
My tuner allows for optical input on the DVD selection and it has two
optical inputs. I use #1 for my DVD player and #2 for my Xbox 360. In
order to get sound I have to set my tuner to "DVD" then use the
"Digital" button on my remote to change the DVD input from "OPTI1" to
"OPTI2". Similarly when I switch back it goes from "OPTI2" to "ANALOG"
to "OPTI1".
My guess is that your tuner is set for DVD, but is stuck on the analog
input.
