I kind of agree with you and I kind of don't. I don't have a problem with
two price points. However, the HDD should be standard as the Xbox hard drive
was standard. I consider the other items luxuries were never considered a
standard package. I don't care much for wireless controllers. I've always
had problems with them--even the Wavebird. I could careless about anything
else except the headset and that's because the 360 headset is not compatible
with the Xbox headset. The way I see it I only need the basic package, but
if I want a hard drive I mine as well get the deluxe because the hard drive
alone costs $99 separately. I consider this a downgrade because the hard
drive was standard. Looking at the prices of the individual components, it
is clear what MS wants to do. They want everyone to buy the deluxe package
because it's a better deal.
If the high-def cables aren't compatible then that sucks. They probably are,
but MS is just looking to make a complete package for new users which I
understand. I'm definitely waiting now to buy the 360. I'm sure the price
will drop when the PS3 hits the shelf.
