I have done the exact same thing once. I was the only guy near the base
when I did it. Only thing different was, I could not get in the
passenger seat as unlike ghost you do not automatically become the
passenger. I chose gunning down the flag carrier and died after doing
that. The gunner grabbed the flag and they were just about to leave
when they shouted (my death screen showed me all this): Oh SHIT SHIT
SHIT.. one of my teammates was back with the RL. Double kill to him and
a sweet memory for me.
