Downloaded XP SP3--and now my MAME is fubared

I'm very much a newbie when it comes to mAME so I apologize now.

I dl'd XP service pack 3 and it screwed up my MAME big time. So I
unistalled SP3 and now it seems a bunch of settings have changed.

I.E. I used to just click on Golden Tee and it would go to the proper
screen and go. Now it goes to a little blue screen off
center..telling me the resolution and some cpu info.. PLus I have to
use the keyboard to quit now. I never had to use the keyboard before.

I bought the MAME from someone.and like I said ..I know very little
about it. butI do know it is MAME32p using a WG D9400 monitor with
Ultimarc cards ..I think I-pac and J-pac.

Where would I go to change the settings and how would I change them?
