Freezing the computer could be caused by spyware. Do you run Spybot to
keep your system clean?

Another cause may be your virus scanner. Run a scan on all your roms
and then exclude your Mame folder from future scans.

I do use spyware but should it not have the same effect all the games.

Maybe, maybe not. All of the equipment being emulated differed. Some
systems require more processing power than others for sound, graphics,
etc.

But shouldn't freeze the computer at all.

PS. I'm guessing you meant Spybot and not spyware. ;-)

Nah, everybody has spyware installed nowadays. ;-)
