Is it a fully-featured live disc though, most installation discs are
live to a degree, they almost all run linux from the CD in order to
install linux so in that sense they are live CDs. Is the ubuntu
install disc a meaningful live install, i.e. can you fire up a
desktop, try out drivers on your hardware, run a few programmes,
browse the web etc? I only ever installed ubuntu once about 7 months
ago and don't remember it being a proper live CD in a practical sense.
From the Ubuntu download page:"The desktop CD allows you to try Ubuntu without changing your computer
at all, and at your option to install it permanently later. This type
of CD is what most people will want to use. You will need at least
192MB of RAM to install from this CD."
so it sounds *fairly* Live at least. I'll give it a try anyway.
