I don't fancy finding/downloading over 5GB of ROMs just to play the exact same games, but more slowly on the latest release ;-)
Then don't.
If you've got a version that works, and you've no interest in the newer games, it makes no sense to download newer ROMsets and newer versions of existing games with a slower version of MAME just to put you back in the same gaming position, but slower.
I have an older version of Mame in the Pac Cab and the latest version.
THe older, obviously, is for the classic games and the newer is for the newer editions that I am interested in.
My Mappy Mame cab has .65 in it, it works beautifully with no reason to change it.
I do keep updates for the latest version for two reasons:
1. I'm a burner 2. Eventually Buggy Boy will be working.
