You folks in Texas and your 4th of July special on brisket. Very
envious ...
They haven't had any of the $.39/lb briskets for a few years.
$.99 is about as low as it gets, and never at HEB for some reason.
HEB seems to be getting stingier with the sales.
I wish they would bring the price of their pre-smoked briskets.
They used to be $2.99 for 3-4 years, and then they went up to
$5.49/lb and never on sale except as part of a "meal deal" (buy a
brisket and get all this crap you don't need for free).

Walmart Super Store has them for $2.19 last I checked. Brisket is not real common around here. So Rainbow and Cub do not sell "packer cuts". They do sell trimmed flats. Generally about 3-4 lbs. Not sure how to cook them, but certainly barbecue is not an option. They are big $$$, probably $3.99 or so.
Butcher stores, WOW, they want over $3 for a packer cut.
Be happy you can get them for $.99/lb. occasionally. If they are ever that price, it is not advertised in the papers.
I am with ya on the pass on the "meal deals". If you're not going to enjoy the freebies, it's not a deal after all !!
Maybe CostCo has them for a better price. Will have to check them out ;-)
